Experimental Pharmacology Laboratory organizes 37th Annual Conference of Society of Toxicology

Chandigarh 18th November:- The Experimental Pharmacology Laboratory (EPL) situated at Department of Pharmacology, PGIMER, Chandigarh deals in Non-Clinical toxicity has organized 37thAnnual Conference of Society of Toxicology (STOX 2017) in PGIMER Chandigarh from 18th to 19th November 2017 under the observation of Prof. Bikash Medhi, Organizing Chairman. The workshop was officially inaugurated by the Dr. Rajesh Kumar, Dean, PGIMER in Lecture Theater Complex, Nehru Hospital. In Inauguration ceremony, other important dignitaries were Prof. Raghuram Rao Akkinepally, Director, NIPER Mohali, Prof Y.K Gupta, Head, Department of Pharmacology AIIMS, Dr K.S Rao, Advanta Limited, Bangalore, Dr. SK Garg, STOX President were present. After Sarasvati Vandana, the program was started with Welcome speech of Prof. Raghuram Rao & Prof YK Gupta. Both the person has stressed the importance of Regulatory Toxicology in policy decision and stressed on fact that govt policies are formulated without the consult of toxicologist in their speech. In his speech, Dr YK Gupta further mentions the requirement to restructure the course of toxicology as per present Industry demand and to collaborate with other related field to compete with global market. In conference, 5 members were awarded with life time achievement award including Dr YK Gupta & Dr KS Rao. After the award ceremony, STOX members were felicitated by Dean, PGIMER.

The Program was started with the plenary lecture of Dr Anil Gulati USA and Dr Ekta Kapoor, DST on Human Phase II toxicology and toxicokinetic & importance of GLP Regulatory Prospective respectively. In conference, many other renowned scientist & dignitaries such as Dr Praveen Aggarwal (AIIMS, Delhi), Dr AB Pant (IITR Lucknow), Dr Dinesh Kundu (Intas Pharma), Dr Sharad Sharma (Lupin), Dr.Vishal Pavitrakar (Lupin), Dr B. Dinesh Kumar (NIN, Hyderabad), Dr A. Sankaranarayanana (Vivo Biotech), Dr Ramachandra (IISc, Bangalore) has delivered lecture. Various important topics were covered in symposium such as Strategy for Poisoning Management in India, Animal experimentation and alternatives approaches in drug development, Herbal Medicines and Herbovigilance & Biosimilar, Market Synthesis, Toxicology and Regulatory Scene in India and Abroad.
