Santosh Chaudhary expresses her concern over shortage of doctors in Punjab Hospitals

Chandigarh,29th June:-- The Union Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Santosh Chaudhary expressed her great concern over the shortage of doctors and para-medical staff in Punjab Govt. Hospitals. Santosh Chaudhary has impressed upon Badal Govt. to speed up the process of selection of requisite staff to ensure quality health care services to the needy people. She said that there is no dearth of funds from the Centre Govt. but the lack of infrastructure and shortage of doctors and para-medical staff has badly affected the health care system in Punjab. She said that as the doctors and other staff is not very keen to join Govt. hospitals in backward district of Hoshiarpur and rural areas of Malwa region, the needy people cannot get proper medical facilities. She announced that there is a proposal to setup special hospitals for treatment of cancer and kidney diseases in backward district of Hoshiarpur and other areas of her Lok Sabha constituency. She fully assured to the State Govt. for making available sufficient funds for the efficient health care network. 
In her maiden visit to Chandigarh after taking charge of minister in the Centre, Chaudhary while interacting with the Press said that she had discussed with the Senior Health Officers of the Punjab Govt. about the status of implementation of various centrally sponsored schemes in the health sector. She said that the Central Govt. has provided special funds for preventing incurable diseases in three districts of Punjab including Bathinda, Hoshiarpur and Gurdaspur. She said that she has procured the report of utilization of funds provided by the centre to the state Govt. under NRHM scheme which will be examined. She said that centre Govt. is also extending the help in selection of new doctors in Punjab and building other necessary infrastructure for quality health care services. 
Mrs. Chaudhary further said that it is her sincere effort to ensure that the clinical tests and treatment facilities for the cancer, kidney and other serious kind of diseases in Govt. hospitals of the State are available.
On the occasion, the Additional Secretary Health Govt. of India Mrs. Anuradha Gupta and Secretary Health Punjab and NRHM Mission Director Raj Kamal Chaudhary were also present.
